2018 Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir
This is the darkest Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir to date with full ruby color and slightly more garnet at the rim. There's an intense Central Coast tomato skin, earthy nose when the wine is first poured that softens into a more traditional, spicy, Santa Lucia Highlands nose with some aeration. Notes of fresh violet, wild strawberry and vanilla are framed with sweet baking spice and toasty oak. Highly-concentrated on the palate, there's a pretty mix of spicy earth, dark fruits, black licorice, moderate tannin and soft acidity. The wine finishes long with lingering complexity and enough firmness to suggest a longer aging period than most Peterson Vineyard Pinots. Drink this from late 2020-2028.
