Cortada Alta Vineyard
Spanish for “high notch”, Cortada Alta is the highest elevation vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands and sits just below the notch of the appellation boundary line. Nestled among crevices in the Santa Lucia Mountain Range, Cortada Alta’s unique topography features aspects as steep as 44 percent and an elevation range of 1200 to 1600 feet, creating the possibility for wines of both power and elegance. Cortada Alta truly provides a rich and diverse palette for winemaking with constant ability for re-interpretation.
Initially planted in 2014 with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with additional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Viognier plantings in 2015, 2016 and 2017, Cortada Alta is a vineyard that is still revealing itself to us.
